Lockdown 2020 - 2021
During the two lockdowns in 2020-2021, I have been walking and exploring Winnal Moors and the surrounding wildlife areas. I've watched the seasons change, each one with its own form of beauty. I have loved the winter trees, the texture of the bark, and the reflections in the River Itchen.
Winnal Moors
Winnal Moors and the water meadows that surround it have never been built up or changed by man. When I walk there I can feel the timelessness of the place. Rupert Sheldrake calls this “A Sacred Grove”

This is a painting that … painted itself! I had the idea of landscape and hills. I poured ink onto a linen canvas and let it dry. Afterwards, I spent time with it seeing what it wanted … then painted into it.
